I am taking the leap of faith!  As many of you know me this shiny button chin hasn't see direct sunlight in 10 YEARS!  Why would I take this leap.  I wrestled for years whether or not to do this.  I decided this is not about me it is about doing something to raise money for a wonderful cause!  Who wouldn't I want to support such wonderful charities and mostly kids.  So follow my journey and consider giving a little to the cause.  If I am lucky I might grow a tiny, almost visible, mustache by the end.

Thank you for your support
Our Mission:
M4K Richmond improves the quality of life for local children through individual fundraising, partnering with local charities and businesses, and having a little bit of fun with facial hair.
M4K Richmond, Inc. is a volunteer-run organization that was founded in 2003 with the goal of raising money for local children’s charities while having fun growing mustaches. Inspired by the National Mustaches for Kids chapters in California and NYC, two Richmond-area philanthropic geniuses took a leap of faith and grew their first mustache.  After being spiritually and piously enlightened by the magic of 1) having a mustache and 2) helping children’s charities; the pair began a 10 year campaign to relentlessly recruit growers and brand the M4K Richmond organization. In the beginning there was a small group of less than 10 growers with limited mustache growing potential.  Membership has grown each year with over 140 growers sporting sweet mustaches during this past growing session.  In 2010 M4K Richmond was incorporated and received recognition as an official 501(c)3 non profit public charity by the IRS. Through the years, M4K Richmond has enlisted the efforts of hundreds of brave growers who collectively have raised over $1,400,000 for Richmond based children’s charities such as The Children's Hospital Foundation, Greater Richmond SCAN, The ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, Feedmore, and more.

Week 1 Summary
I am a little late getting my week 1 progress report out to you all.  First let me say I am very humbled by all of your support and encouragement.  For those of you who have donated I want to say thank you!  I have raised $400 en route to my goal of $1000.  So far we're at $78,000 and thanks to our big day Wednesday we are tracking ahead of our projections to get to $350,000!  I hope you all enjoyed the clean shaven "babyface" that existed 10 days ago.  I hae developed a little dusting of hair on my upper lip!  Look closely and zoom in I promise its there!  I will tell you that my chin remains very cold and my lips are extremely chapped as a result of the absent facial hair!  I actually have had to borrow my daughters princess chap-stick!  The whole family is getting involved in the action.  This week Emmie decided to join me in my quest!  Man that face alone could raise a little money!  Enjoy the pic and again thank you for participating to the cause!
WEEK #2 Summary
Friends and Family this thing is starting to take shape and become a little creepy!  As my mustache begins to take shape the fundraising continues.  To date we have raised $156,605 for local children's charities and are on track to meet our goal of $350,000.  I personally have raised $580 towards my goal of $1000.  I am very humbled by all you who have donated to the cause and continue to follow me on this journey!  Thank you so much!  Last week Emmie got into the mix with her milk mustache which was way more impressive than my peach fuzz!  The family continues to get in involved this week.  As I continue to add to my upper lip, a more distinct yet barely noticeable mustache, Charlie has taken her game the other direction in the subtraction of something on her face!  I will let you all decide who is more country (aka backwoods)!  The conversations around having this new found growth on my upper lip have been amazing.  This morning as I walked out of the house with the kids Emmie says to me "Daddy you don't have your lunch box" I then said "I have a work meeting today they are giving us lunch"  She proceeds to say "Is it for mustaches!"  Unbelievable! Thank you again for your support in this venture!
We are nearing the end of this wonderful venture.  I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday week and survived Black Friday and Cyber Monday!  This is the last week of growing a somewhat creepy mustache!  I can't tell you how humbling this experience has been.  The conversation that arises out of sporting a mustache is quite amazing.  I have interviewed several potential new hires, caught looks from random people, and been point blank asked what I am doing with this fur on my lip.  I am proud to say it is all in good fun to strike up the conversation for the true purpose and that is to support local kids charities!  I can't put a value on this experience nor can I put into words the gratitude for all of you that have given to this wonderful cause.  Thank you all for seeing and understanding the importance of giving back to the our future "The Kids."  As always I am including a picture of the developing stache and encouraging each of you to check out the website.  We are doing amazing things!  To date we have raised $297,287 for local kids charities.  We have a goal to reach $400,000.  We are down to our last 5 days to get there.  Every little bit counts and in this season of giving it matters.  Thanks again enjoy the pics.  There will be one more last check in this Saturday with the final product.
Final push for donations!  We are working towards out overall goal of $400,000 to give to local kids charities.  Upon last check we were a little over $325,000.  Over 200 men have embarked on this adventure to grow a little extra flair on their lip in order to support the cause.  It is truly amazing how much we have been able to generate to give back to the kids.  It is because of all of you understanding the importance and need that exists to support our future "The Kids."  Every little bit counts consider throwing a little to the cause.  As promised here is the final product.  It has been quite a journey!  I could not be happier that I took the leap to participate in this.  Just for your information my kids now point out every mustache they see and ask "Are they growing a mustache for kids?"  They are also very quick to point out mustaches that are better than mine!  Thanks to all of you for following the progress and donated.  I have appreciated your feedback!
