We envision a community in which individuals with Down syndrome are fully included and valued members. Since 1983, the Virginia Down Syndrome Association (VDSA) has empowered families and individuals across Richmond and surrounding communities through personalized support, education, advocacy, and community engagement. From welcoming new parents to offering enrichment, employment, and social programs for all ages, we are committed to helping every individual with Down syndrome thrive.

VDSA currently supports over 800 families across 52 counties and 16 cities, reaching from Richmond to Charlottesville, Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, the Central Shenandoah Valley, and all the way to the Virginia state border.

What Your Gift Provides

• $50 provides dinner and emotional support to caregivers when their baby or child is in the hospital.
• $150 funds four early childhood development classes for new parents of babies with Down syndrome.
• $500 offers financial assistance for individuals with Down syndrome to participate in extracurricular or life skills programs.
• $750 supports nine months of evidence-informed learning for children with Down syndrome.
• $1,200 provides four weeks of job skills training and hands-on experience for a young adult in our Summer Employment Academy.
